EXTREME LOGIC EMPLOYEES JOIN BELLSOUTH AND KIMBERLY-CLARK
IN MOST SIGNIFICANT DONATIONS TO ATLANTA CHIDREN'S PROGRAM
Extreme Logic Employees Give Back to Community as Donations Help Students Kick Off the School Year
ATLANTA, GA - (September 14, 2000) – The employees from Extreme Logic, Microsoft's selection for best e-business solutions provider in North America, joined the Children's Restoration Network in their 6th Annual Back to School Readiness Program. The Back to School Readiness Program assists homeless children in preparing for the school year with gifts of book bags filled with school supplies and personal hygiene items, along with screenings that are necessary to enter school. The program is directed toward the plight of homeless children, focusing on academic achievement and fostering greater self esteem.
Alicia Ford, Extreme Logic's Director of the Atlanta Regional Office, learned about this charity as it was coming to an end. With only four days, her team managed to collect enough from fellow employees to purchase 27 book bags, 60 packs of loose-leaf paper, 31 calculators, 30 folders, 35 boxes of pencils, 45 packs of markers, 50 boxes of crayons, 40 notebooks, 30 folders, 37 rulers, and many other items. The Children's Restoration Network commented that Extreme Logic employees' donations were among their highest, joining such companies as BellSouth and Kimberly-Clark.
Alicia explains that, "Organizing and executing an employee generated effort in four days was challenging, but giving back to the community is something everyone from Extreme Logic finds important." Mike Williams, Extreme Logic's Chief People Officer, adds, "Supporting this event is highly consistent with our company's core value around learning."
On August 20th approximately 900 children from 20 local shelters were invited to the Stone Mountain Park to receive the donations and other back to school necessities. Over 1,200 book bags were given to children at the event or delivered to shelters that could not attend.
