Medsite Partners With AmeriCares In Humanitarian Outreach Initiative
April 30, 2004 -- Medsite, the leader in e-pharma marketing, and AmeriCares, a nonprofit disaster relief and humanitarian aid organization, announced today an alliance to facilitate physician donations of medically relevant products to underserved areas throughout Latin America, Africa and Asia. Since November 2003, more than 130 physicians have already participated in the program, resulting in the donation of critical medical supplies to various regions in need of assistance.
Each month, AmeriCares donates an average of five 40-foot containers of essential medicines and medical supplies including gloves, microscope slides, strep tests and urine strips that are shipped to populations in need.
Sundeep Bhan, CEO, Medsite says, "The alliance with AmeriCares is an ideal way to contribute back to the global medical community." According to Brooke Goodchild, Product Manager for Medsite Rewards, "We have created a new channel for physicians' philanthropic efforts and ultimately established a way to better the standard of international healthcare."
Products donated are pre-selected by AmeriCares, based on the overall need of the areas served. Every few months, Medsite works with AmeriCares to reevaluate demand and provide additional required supplies. Future donations may include various diagnostic, blood pressure and orthopedic equipment.
Curt Welling, president & CEO, AmeriCares says, "This alliance has increased our ability to provide basic medical supplies to locations throughout the world. Medsite's relationship with the majority of U.S. physicians, their generosity and our reach to global healthcare providers helps us meet the needs of patients and caregivers worldwide."
